After
looking into how we read sentences depending on the size font, we were then
asked to illustrate a selection of accents through the sentence ‘Who are you?’.
Using the visual dynamics of the type, the font, weight and point size we had
to create the accents. To give a recognizable representation of the speed, the
volume and the quality of the accents must be considered.
The
accents were:
Scottish
Italian
Texan
Mexican
Somerset
Brummie
Cockney
German
Chinese
Swedish
In no order, these are the sentences I produced
Scottish
whO are you?
Chinese
Who are You?
Mexicam
who
are you?
Brummie
w h o a
r e y o u?
Swedish
WhO Are YOU?
Cockney
Cockney
WHOAre you?
Somerset
WHO are YOU?
Italian
who are you?
Texan
whoare you?
Germay
who are you?
As
part of the accents session we had to try and work out other what the accents
were from the type. Some of this was very difficult and some of it was much
easier. Scottish, Chinese and German were the easiest with Somerset and Brummie
being the most difficult.
