CREATIVE SUITE SESSION 02

PHOTOSHOP

Mode of the image
-       Set when opening a new document.
-       Default mode is RGB.
-       Photoshop’s preferred way of working.

Colours produced in RGb sit outside CMYK colour gamut.

Gamut Warning


Changing the brightness//levels//hue//saturation will bring colours to printable level.

Change mode – CMYK

Adjustment layers & masks

Proof colours – CMYK preview mode






Last thing to do prior to moving to another software is to change to CMYK.

SWATCH PALLET
-       Empty swatch pallet.
-       Saves time in the future.

APPLYING COLOUR TO PHOTOSHOP IMAGE
-       Colour picker.
-       Square with warning sign means it is not a CMYK colour.
-       Click square to go to the closest CMYK colour.
-       Other square means it is not a web safe colour.
-       Same principle applies.
-       Process colours.









GREYSCALE
-       Mode.
-       Duotone.
-       Change colours.
-       Change tint//tone.
-       Exact mapping of colour and original tone.
-       Change (flip)
-       Monotone    -        exchange black ink.
-       Always editable.







File; Save as; Photoshop file

Channels (near layers)
-       Always greyscale

Greyscale
-       1 channel

USE A SPOT COLOUR
-       Channels pallet menu.
-       New spot channel.
-       Use colour library.
-       Creates new spot channel.
-       Use paint tool.
-       Use selection tool.

Can be used for spot varnish.

Must click spot colours when saving.

SOLIDITY
-       Transparency of ink.
-       Opacity.
